  Frequently Asked Questions

We've included some frequently asked questions about modular homes.  We hope that we are able to answer your questions here - but if you don't see your answer here, please contact us and ask a representative.  We're more that glad to help!

Q. What are turn-key services?

A. When a price is given by one of our representatives,  its a "key-in-hand" price. We take care of all of the necessities to get your home finished - from excavation and foundation, plumbing and electrical - there's no running around trying to find your own sub-contractors.  We have spent years selecting the finest to finish your home.  Our price is start to finish - no hidden costs.

Q.  How long does it take for my house to ship?

A.  Shipping time is largely dependent on the amount of work the factory has on their schedule at the time of your order.  Typical shipping time is 4-8 weeks from the time your order is placed with the factory.

QAre there any cost overruns?

A.  Savoie Modular Homes, Inc. does not have cost overruns. When you have completed your options list and blue prints have been ordered from the factory, the quoted price provided to our customers is the price the pay.  (Contract amount may change if additions/changes are made after the final contract is signed.)

Q.  Is my site too small?  (Can we fit a modular?)

A.  A modular home may fit on any size lot, provided a plan is chosen that meets building department criteria.  The modular boxes may not be able to be stored on site, but this is not a necessary requirement of ordering/owning a modular home.

Q.  Are Ritz-Craft home green homes?

A.  Green building is a practice of using sustainable materials and designs in new construction.  Yes, modular homes are by their very nature green.  Assembly in an enclosed indoor environment contributes to reduced waste of material at the factory and at the job site, lessens the environmental impact on the land and the community where the house is being delivered, and allows for a tighter built structure to maximize energy efficiency - all of which are key components to green building standards.

Q.  Are Ritz-Craft homes energy star efficient?ENERGY STAR partner

A.  Yes. Ritz-Craft is an ENERGY STAR® partner and committed to using energy efficient building methods and materials. Our homes are built standard with 2” x 6” exterior walls and R-19 insulation, R-30 blown-in ceiling insulation, warm edge thermopane low-e glass windows, and insulated exterior doors.  Ritz-Craft also offers an optional florescent lighting package that meets the requirements of ENERGY STAR®.

Q. How does a Ritz-Craft modular home differ from a “manufactured or mobile home”?

A.  Manufactured homes, sometimes referred to as mobile homes, are built to the HUD Code, a national code for manufactured housing. The HUD Code, unlike conventional state building codes used by modular home manufacturers and site builders, requires manufactured homes to be built on non-removable steel chassis. Many neighborhoods exclude manufactured/mobile homes but accept modular homes because they are built to the same code as site-built homes
